Brighton Avenue
Introduction:
Our teams will soon start to deliver a £200,000 investment replacing all of the electrical assets within the substation on Brighton Avenue.
The work will take place over the next several weeks following a fault within the substation which happened in early October.
Teams were able to carry out temporary repair work on the day and utilising generation and alternative network connections, all supplies were restored on the day.
Next steps
From 20/10/2026, teams will start to carry out a permanent repair within the substation which will include the installation of numerous new electrical assets.
While work takes place, properties affected will remain on temporary generation and alternative network connections until repair work is complete.
This could mean, at times, supplies will be intermittent but our teams will closely monitor the situation and will take the necessary steps to minimise any risk to customers.
We will continue to keep customers updated over the next 4 weeks as work progresses and a permanent repair is complete.
Planned outage on 20/10/2026 – Good progress has been made with the work. We have replaced the two generators that were temporarily supplying customers with one larger generator. This has enabled us to reconfigure the network and begin the next phase of the project, removing the old equipment from the substation.
