Setting up your project

Setting up your project

We're here to help community energy groups set up their own local energy projects. We support community groups with advice and funding and can help with that all-important connection to the grid.

There are lots of reasons why people get involved in local energy projects. A key one at the moment is wanting to help tackle the climate crisis. But alongside that is the desire to create a sense of community – everyone getting together behind a common goal to bring real economic and social benefits to their communities.

Community energy can mean many different things to different people, but whatever you have in mind, we love helping communities set up and run local energy projects. There are so many projects already up and running across the North West, from groups providing energy saving advice to installing solar panels, heat pumps and electric vehicle charging points. Take a look at our case studies to see the groups we’ve worked with and what they’ve been up to. You might even get some inspiration for your own community energy project.

By working together on a community energy project you'll be helping to tackle climate change and getting involved in something that benefits the community.

We have some useful online guides packed full of information, to help you with your community energy project – you can find them all on our resources page. You can also find information on connecting to the network and any upcoming events that you could come along to.

If you don’t know where to start, don't worry – we can help you every step of the way.
