Plug in Solar
From 27 August, plug-in solar panels will be available in Great Britain for the first time. These panels plug into your home’s electrical sockets to help power your everyday appliances. They’re portable devices so you can take them with you if you move home.
Plug-in solar panels are small-scale solar systems designed to connect directly to a standard UK household socket (the use of extension cables is not permitted). These products are being introduced as part of wider efforts to reduce energy bills, improve access to renewable energy, and support the transition to low-carbon energy systems.
Considerations when buying plug- in solar:
Make sure the specific model you’re looking at is on the list of devices that meet UK standards. You can look for your model on the ENA Connect Direct LCT Device Register.
Registering your Plug- in Solar
You’re legally required to register any plug-in solar panel devices before you use them in the UK. You can register using the UK Plug- in solar website. Before you register, you’ll need, your name, your postcode and the make and model of the device
