Monthly tender
Monthly tender
Introducing our month-ahead DSO flexibility service — a predictable, locally focused market that rewards flexible assets and strengthens network resilience.
What this service is
Month‑ahead flexibility secures the ability of local generators, storage and flexible demand to adjust output or consumption across defined network areas for the coming month. Contracts are awarded in advance so both the network and providers can plan with confidence.
Why we are adopting month‑ahead procurement
- Improved planning: Securing flexibility a month ahead gives our network teams time to align maintenance, reinforcements and operational plans.
- Clear commercial signals: Providers receive firm monthly commitments and transparent remuneration, making participation simpler and more financially reliable.
- Faster connections: By using contracted flexibility, we can defer or avoid some physical upgrades and accelerate new low‑carbon connections.
How the service will operate
- Eligibility and registration: Assets that meet our technical and operational criteria can register and complete a straightforward qualification process.
- Monthly procurement: We run a single, transparent procurement cycle for each zone covering the next calendar month; successful bids secure availability windows and payment terms.
- Activation and settlement: Similar to our long term auctions- When local conditions require it, we’ll call on contracted providers according to the agreed schedule; activations are measured and settled against contracted volumes.
Benefits for participants and customers
- Predictable income streams for flexible assets through monthly contracts.
- Operational certainty that helps asset owners optimise dispatch and maintenance.
- Local system value by unlocking capacity to host more renewables and flexible loads without immediate network reinforcement.
