Flexibility service providers

Find out more about some of the flexibility service providers (fsps) who are helping us to balance the supply and demand for electricity in a more efficient and sustainable way.

AMP Clean EnergyAMP logo 3.png

AMP owns and operates more than 200MW of grid flexibility assets, comprising of battery storage, gas reciprocating engines and the UK’s first high voltage electrode boiler, all playing a pivotal role in balancing renewables, avoiding costly grid reinforcement and ensuring security of supply. AMP specialises in localised dispatchable electricity generation and storage systems, supporting the network when and where it’s needed most.

AMP's fleet of assets are capable of providing flexible electricity in urban areas, saving consumers money on their bills and allowing us to manage the way that we use the grid in a more intelligent way. AMP is due to begin providing us with flexibility services in winter 2025 and hopes to provide more services in the future.

Electric Miles

Electric Miles logo.pngElectric Miles provides intelligent EV charging software that supports charger manufacturers, installers, energy suppliers, and commercial EV fleets. As electric vehicle adoption accelerates, there is an increasing need to manage when and how EVs draw power from the grid. Electric Miles’ software enables smart charging based on energy tariffs and automated charging that time-shifts electricity demand to protect grid stability and reduce energy costs for consumers.

Our SmartFlex technology also unlocks the next frontier of energy flexibility: Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capabilities. This allows the batteries of our customers' EVs to not only draw power but also to discharge it back to the grid when needed. By building this V2G capability, we are creating on-demand Virtual Power Plants (VPPs). These VPPs can trade low-carbon energy, turning a fleet of parked EVs into a dynamic, revenue-generating asset that provides critical stability to the grid.

This evolved approach empowers customers to participate fully in the energy transition, turning everyday EV charging—and now, discharging—into a valuable flexibility resource that accelerates the UK’s journey to net zero.
