Cumbria network investment
We're delivering the largest ever investment in the North West’s power network, investing over £1bn between 2023 and 2028 – including our single biggest ever investment in Cumbria.
We're committed to maintaining and improving the network through our capital investment programme
As part of our capital investment programme, including our largest ever single investment in Cumbria which will see us replace 154km of 132,000-volt overhead line, creating 230 meggawatts of additional capacity on the network, enabling more renewable energy generation and increase take up of electric vehicles and heating and a £60m new substation at Harker to feed the whole of the Cumbria power network, known as the Cumbria Ring.
We’re working closely with local authorities to ensure the works are carried out safely, reliably and efficiently.
