Eastlands investment
Electricity North West is embarking on the largest ever investment in the North West’s power network, investing over £2bn between 2023 and 2028 – including a £32m programme of key projects across Greater Manchester.
We're committed to maintaining and improving the network through our capital investment programme
Engineers have commenced work which will see £1.9m worth of upgrades carried out on the power network in the Eastlands area of Manchester.
As part of our capital investment programme, these works are to facilitate the reinforcement of our network for the adoption of Transport for Greater Manchester Bus charging infrastructure, in addition to further network expansion both in industrial and domestic customers covering a distance of approximatley 3.6km.
The work will see two new circuits installed which will facilitate electric vehicle charging infrastructure for TfGM. We will also reinforce four circuits to facilitate further network development in the area to future-proof the network, enhancing reliability, resilience and enabling more low carbon technologies like heat pumps and electric vehicle charging.
Once complete, local homes and businesses are expected to benefit from the new and improved infrastructure.
- This £1.9m investment will future-proof Eastland’s electricity infrastructure and improve resilience and reliability
- The project supports ENWL’s commitment to reinforcing the network and futureproofing for increased demand from low carbon technologies
- We are working closely with Manchester City Council to coordinate works and minimise disruption
- Road closures and diversions may be necessary but will be carefully planned and communicated in advance in collaboration with local authorities. There are no planned supply interuptions as part of this project
- We are committed to keeping residents, businesses, and commuters informed every step of the way.
Work is expected to last 12 months, all work has been agreed with the local authorities and Electricity North West has hand delivered letters to customers with details of any traffic management.
