Agecroft - Frederick Road frequently asked questions
We’re replacing over 6km of aging oil-filled 132,000-volt electricity cables between Frederick Road, Agecroft, and Duchy Road with modern, solid aluminium cables. This work supports our commitment to removing oil-filled assets from the network by 2040 and improving the reliability and environmental performance of Salford’s electricity infrastructure.
The existing cables are outdated and pose a risk of oil leakage into local watercourses. These upgrades will improve the Health Index of the network, reduce environmental risks, and support future energy demand in Salford.
The project is being delivered by Electricity North West, with our trusted partners:
Network Plus managing cable installation for the Duchy Road section
Excalon managing cable installation for the the Agecroft section
