We’re investing £12m to replace and relocate three large grid transformers at Frederick Road Substation and upgrading 12.5km of 132,000-volt overhead lines. This work will increase capacity and improve the reliability of the electricity network in Salford.
The existing infrastructure is being upgraded to support future energy demand, improve resilience, and help meet net zero targets. This £12 million investment will future-proof Salford’s electricity supply and support local developments including Salford University and the Salford Rise project.
The project is being delivered by Electricity North West, with our trusted partners:
DH Whelton managing civil works and transformer installation
ENWL overseeing project delivery and stakeholder engagement
