Spring 2024

Spring 2024 requirement

View our flexibility requirements for 2024-2028 and find out how to get involved.

Our Spring tender asks flexibility providers for 486MW of flexibility in 29 locations across Cumbria, Lancashire and Greater Manchester with £7m revenue available for the provision of these services. This procurement round is taking place on ElectronConnect and Piclo Flex to improve visibility of our requirements and enable Flexibility Service Providers (FSPs) to maximise routes to participation. FSPs can visit either platform at any time to complete company qualification, register assets and confirm participation in competitions.

ElectronConnect will serve as our core market platform offering an end-to-end solution for providers to participate; from registration and qualification all the way through to dispatch and settlement.

FSPs can also participate via the Piclo Max platform which streamlines access to all electricity markets from a single place. FSPs who have already commercially qualified and uploaded assets onto the Piclo Flex platform will not be required to complete these steps again and can expect a smooth transition to ElectronConnect for the bidding stage of this procurement round.

Contact support@electron.net or support@picloflex.com for assistance with registering onto your preferred platform.

Full details of our Spring requirements including postcodes, delivery windows, capacity required, response type (product) and ceiling prices can be viewed on our interactive flexibility map on the right, within Appendix 3 of our Invitation to Tender below, on our Open Data Portal, ElectronConnect and Piclo Max.

Products

Through the ENA Open Networks Project, in 2023 flexibility product definitions were streamlined and standardised across the DNOs to enable flexibility providers and other stakeholder groups to more easily identify the services they’re best placed to offer. We are procuring three of new common products in our Spring 2024 tender:
  • Peak Demand
  • Operational Utilisation
  • Operational Utilisation and Variable Availability
Energy efficiency measures such as LED lighting, improved insulation and solar panels, can provide flexible services through the Peak Demand product by installing schemes that reduce long term energy demand. Find out more about how to participate through Energy Efficiency Measures on our FAQs page.

Full details of our updated technical requirements including product parameters can be found in Appendix 2: Technical Specification as part of this Invitation to Tender (ITT).
