Could you generate additional power or reduce your consumption of power – and receive payment in return?
As the region’s distribution network operator, it’s our responsibility to plan for the future and seek out smarter, more flexible solutions to meet future demand for electricity.
We are utilising a number of innovative techniques to ensure we can continue to deliver an affordable, reliable and sustainable electricity supply for all our customers.
Flexible services is one such technique.
Distributed energy providers who can adjust how much electricity they consume or generate can support our distribution network at times of high demand, and receive payment in return.
We are looking for expressions of interest from companies who can generate additional power or reduce their consumption of power in seven key locations:
- Alston, near Carlisle, Cumbria
- Blackfriars Road, Salford and Central Manchester
- Cheetham Hill, North Manchester
- Coniston, Cumbria
- Easton, Cumbria
- Stuart Street, Central and East Manchester
- Nelson, East Lancashire.
The responses we receive will help us understand the number and type of flexible resources available in each network location and their technical and commercial characteristics. Where there is sufficient interest and availability we will run a competitive tender for contract delivery in winter 2018/19 and winter 2019/20.
Please review the expression of interest document below for more information on our indicative requirements.
On Wednesday 25 April 2018, we held a flexible services webinar consisting of a short presentation and a question and answer session. Find out more and watch a recording of the webinar.
We are no longer accepting expressions of interest for winter 2018/19. We will provide a further update on our progress in July 2018.
