Whether you are looking for an operational or office based apprenticeship from the rural countryside or the hustle and bustle of city life, we could have just what you’re looking for. We offer Advanced (level 2 & 3) Apprenticeships in a variety of areas;

Overhead Lines

Working on our 14,000 kilometres of overhead lines safely at height, we'll provide you with the knowledge, skills and training you need to build, maintain and repair our overhead electricity lines on wooden poles or steel towers. This role is critical to ensuring our customers in more rural areas have electricity to power their homes, phones, laptops and TVs.

Cable Jointing

You'll be working with our experienced teams to install, maintain and repair our network of underground electrical cables. These cables transmit electricity from our substations to our towns and cities, keeping the power flowing for millions of homes and businesses across the North West.

Fitting

You will be working in our 35,000 substations across the North West to maintain electricity supply to our customers. You will be working in confined spaces to complete fault finding, repairs and site maintenance looking after equipment including switchgears and transformers.

Vehicle Maintenance

As a vehicle mechanic, you will work as part of our experienced team to deliver a high-quality service and repair regime for our combined fleet, working on light and heavy commercial vehicles and plant, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and legislation.

Vegetation Management (Arborist)

Working as part of our vegetation management team, you'll be given the skills and experience to fell and prune trees near our overhead electricity network. Working in line with our procedures and codes of practice, you'll be ensuring health and safety while maintaining good customer relations.

Civil Engineering

There's a lot of variety in the civil engineering world and no day will be the same. You'll be working as part of a team whether it be in the office working on design briefs or out on site coming up with solutions to construction issues and getting involved in planning work. This can range from building a new substation or replacing equipment in our substations or maybe fixing damage to our substations. There will be lots of interaction with different teams and our customers to ensure the job is complete.

IT Desktop Support

You will work with our expert teams to gain the skills and experience needed to drive improved performance through IT.  You will learn to implement and drive software and hardware asset management to ensure we are fully compliant and support the Service Delivery and Management function.
