Craft apprenticeships

Craft apprenticeships

Our apprenticeship programmes can kick-start your career in engineering. We're looking for ambitious and aspiring individuals to join our three-year programme.

We offer craft apprenticeships in the following two crafts:

  • overhead line worker- you'll build, maintain and repair overhead lines on wooden poles or steel towers, a critical service that our customers depend on. You'll need a head for heights and be comfortable working outdoors in all weathers.
  • cable jointer- you'll install and join lengths of power cables together, critical to keeping our network running safely and securely.

The three year programme will provide you with a level 3 in power engineering and you'll be equipped with enough experience and high-quality training to take on a permanent role with us. The programme is fully funded and you'll receive a Level 3 Power Network Craftsperson qualification upon completion.

We begin recruitment in winter, ready for the programme to start the following September. If you're looking to apply for a craft apprenticeship you'll need a minimum level 4-9 (A*-C) GSCE's in english, maths and science.
