Switched on to your views

The local electricity network is your network. You pay for its upkeep and investment through your electricity bill.

Around 20% of a typical domestic electricity bill comes to us to operate the network for you. So it’s only fair if you get to have a say over what we do with your money.

From 2010–2015 we’ve invested £1.4bn in your network, to keep bringing energy to your door.

That money helps makes sure that your network:

  • offers you a safe and reliable electricity supply
  • has equipment maintained or replaced as needed
  • is protected against flooding and vandalism
  • copes with increasing demand
  • is ready for the future

We’re now planning right up to 2023 and beyond. And we want to know what you think, to help us develop our plans.

Stakeholder engagement

We consult regularly with Ofgem and our stakeholders to confirm:

  • what services we should provide
  • how our services should be delivered
  • what our services should cost.

We operate a strong consultation process with North West and national stakeholders. Below are some of our key results.

Network Investment Plan 2010-2015

Following engagement with stakeholders and consultation with Ofgem, we have built our investment plans for the five-year period 2010-2015. Our Network Investment Plan shows:

  • our role in the electricity industry
  • details of our network assets
  • where we plan to invest.

A copy of the plan is available here: Network Investment Plan.

Strategic Direction Statement 2015-2050

Our Strategic Direction Statement explains our role in the energy industry, the services we provide and the assets we own and manage, but also our longer-term outlook on our role. The statement shows:

  • how we manage our assets
  • the basis of the long-term investment plans for our network to 2050
  • insights into the potential development of our services and network.

To read the Statement, please go to the Strategic Direction Statement (2013)

We are very interested in your views on the Strategic Direction Statement and our future plans.
