Electricity distribution
Electricity in the UK is generated by a number of different companies and transmitted at high voltage around the country by the National Grid.
We operate the local electricity distribution network in the North West of England, taking power from National Grid, and distributing it at lower voltages to homes and businesses.
We distribute electricity to customers' homes on behalf of supply companies through agreements that suppliers have with us to use our network. Supply companies pay for using our distribution network based on rates set by the industry regulator, Ofgem.
