Service alteration or additional load

If you would like to apply for a service alteration, we will usually issue a quote within 4 working days.

Moving a meter, cut out or fuse

You will need to contact your supplier if you would like to:

  • move your meter without the cut out or fuse being moved.

We will need to excavate within your land and move a service cable if you would like to:

  • move the meter more than two meters away;
  • move the cut out or fuse.

Service alteration quote

If a site visit is required due to additional information or load bring required, the period of 4 working days will be extended to 15 working days.

Following a site visit, you will be:

  • informed of the required action needed, leading to a quotation;
  • issued a quotation, which is valid for a 3 month period from the date of issue.

Some additional loads will not require any work within your property. If this is the case, you will be notified in writing.

Please note prepayment meters will not be fitted in an external viewing cabinet.

  • Application

    The documents shown below are guidance for completing and application form and associated required plans using this information will prevent any delays in providing you with a quotation.

    If you are emailing this information to connections.enquiries@enwl.co.uk please be aware you will receive an email receipt of confirmation the application has been received and no file over 8MB will be accepted.

    If you are faxing or posting the information you will receive a text within 24 hours of Electricity North West confirming receipt of the information.

    If the information is not complete your application will not be processed and we will contact you for the missing information.

  • Quote & Acceptance

    Your Quotation will be based on all the excavation being carried out by Electricity North West, unless you have clearly stated this is not to be the case. As we will be excavating in your property the more information included on your layout plan the more accurate the quotation will be i.e. stating areas where there is decking.

    Within your quotation it is important that you read the project specification as this will outline any assumptions made by Electricity North West.

    All internal works will be need to be carried out by your appointed Electrician.

    Your acceptance must be accompanied with details of

    • Your electricity provider
    • Letter of Authority if the Cheque being paid is not the name of original applicant

    An incomplete acceptance will mean that your cheque is not processed and we will contact you regarding the missing information and this will cause a delay to your connection

  • Planning & Dates

    Once your acceptance has been processed our delivery team will make contact to organise a Site Visit, it is recommended you do not carry out any work on site until you have discussed the installation with our surveyor.

    The applicant or an authorised individual must be present for the site visit as access may be required to the property. If there is an authorised individual Electricity North West must have been made aware of this prior to the site visit.

    At this point if you are not the person dealing with the site installation it is important to prevent any delays that the details of the Site Contact are provided.

  • Site Works

    The Delivery team who arrive on site to carry out your connection will carry out all works in accordance with Electricity North West H&S policies, they will have full work instructions and will not carry out the work if on site they find:

    • No service entry hole (if internal meter)
    • No duct installed if required
    • Incorrect depth of ducting
    • Scaffolding of other obstructions in the way
    • An Internal Meter Box is not fixed to an internal wall
    • The meter box is located beneath water areas such as a sink.

    The works to be completed will be as per the quotation this will include all excavation and permanent reinstatement within the public highway.

  • Metering

    Electricity North West does not supply electricity and therefore we do not install meters, so you will need to arrange for your supplier to attend site on the same day as us, to minimise your period without supply

    For all other metering enquiries please contact your supplier.

  • GSoP

    The Guaranteed Standards of Performance were implemented in October 2010 by OFGEM for all Electricity Distribution Network Owners.

    For a single phase connection the following Standards apply:-

    1 ECGS2a – Quotation Produced 15 working days £10 Daily
    2 ECGS11a – Quotation Accuracy Scheme Single Connection £250 one of payment
    3 Late Payment of Penalty 10 working days £50 one of payment
