Vandals caused havoc yesterday after they brought down overhead power lines leaving homes and businesses in the Broadheath area of Altrincham without power. Engineers quickly arrived on site and removed power supplies to 52 properties at 12.30pm as they worked to repair the damage. All customers were restored at 9pm.

Power operator, Electricity North West is appealing for local residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity around its electricity substations and overhead lines.

Mark Williamson, operations director for Electricity North West, said: “Not only is this an incredibly dangerous crime and thieves are putting their lives at risk, but it also impacts on residents and businesses.Vandals caused havoc after they brought down overhead power lines leaving homes and businesses in the Broadheath area of Altrincham without power

“We will be working with the police to investigate the incident, but if anyone has any information which could help find the offenders then please do get in touch. It is important that we all work together to put a stop to these crimes.”
