19/09/11: Young ‘Old Boys’ score new kits with Electricity North West

They are possibly the youngest ‘Old Boys’ ever to play football in Barrow, but their youth meant they had no kit – until Electricity North West stepped in.

Holker Old Boys Under 7s mini-soccer team has only been playing in the Barrow Junior Leagues for 12 months and have always had to play in second hand strips, handed down from the older teams, because they’d club had never had a team so young.

One of the player’s mothers, Carol Pascoe, spoke to her employer Electricity North West about the shortage of new kits for the youngest squad. The company is the region’s electricity distribution network operator and was keen to support the local team, providing the youngsters with a new strip in the Holker Old Boys’ customary green and black club colours.

Glyn Dixon, Holker Old Boys Under 7s manager, said: “The new strip is a fantastic confidence boost for the players. It is great to have the support of one of the region’s largest companies.”

Carol added: “I’m delighted that Electricity North West has agreed to help out the young team at Holker Old Boys. The company carries out a lot of work in the Barrow-in-Furness area so it is good to be able to put something back into the community - and now my employer will be joining me in cheering them on in the league.”
