14/10/2010: Electricity North West hosts successful House of Commons event

Electricity North West hosted a dinner for North West regional MPs at the House of Commons on (Wednesday 13th October).

The event which was attended by 12 of the regions MP’s was very kindly hosted by Mark Menzies, Member of Parliament for Fylde, on Electricity North West’s behalf.

Guest speaker was Lord Marland, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State and Government spokesperson, Department for Energy and Climate Change. Steve Johnson, CEO of Electricity North West, said how delighted he was so many of the North West’s regions had been able to attend and took the opportunity to explain the role of an Electricity Distributor and how the company served the people of the North West with some 2.4 million domestic and industrial customers. He told the MP’s the purpose of the event was to tell them about the business and the massive investment in the region.

Lord Marland, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State and Government spokesperson, Department for Energy and Climate Change also told the North West MP’s how pleased he was with the news of the £1.4 billion investment that Electricity North West were making in the region. Over half of this money will be spent on replacing old assets and £22m will be spent on training and development creating over 250 new roles.
