07/02/2011: New kit for Stanwix FC

A junior football team in Cumbria have scored a winner with a brand new kit from Electricity North West...

The region’s electricity distribution company has launched a new community scheme to help its staff support local clubs and projects.

Kevin and Tracey Taylor, whose son plays for Stanwix FC under-12s in Carlisle, both work for Electricity North West and applied for funding for the kits for the team.

Kevin, who works as a trainee jointer for the company, is also the manager of the team. He said: “I heard about the scheme and I knew that the lads needed a new kit so I asked if it could be sponsored by the company. They agreed, and we’re all delighted with it.”

Stanwix FC are currently 10th in the U12’s Longhorn Youth Football league.

Electricity North West’s Customer Strategy and Regulation Director, Paul Bircham, said: “We’re happy that we’ve been able to help out this young team as part of our support for local communities.

“Providing funding for local teams such as Stanwix is a great example of this initiative and we hope to help more groups in future, based on recommendations from our staff.”

Electricity North West owns, operates and maintains the region’s electricity distribution network, providing power to 2.4 million homes and businesses in the North West.
