02/06/2010: New Chairman for Electricity North West

The Board of Electricity North West Limited, which owns and finances the North West’s electricity network, is pleased to announce the appointment of Phil White CBE as Chairman of the Board with immediate effect.

Phil replaces Mike Hughes who stepped down as Chairman at the end of March this year.

Mr. White is a well known industry and business figure with a strong track record of leading companies and enhancing total shareholder return. He was Chief Executive of National Express from 1997-2006, during which time he delivered substantial growth both in the UK and overseas. More recently he has been fulfilling a number of non-executive roles as Chairman of Lookers, Kier Group and Unite Group.

Commenting on the appointment, Steve Johnson, CEO of Electricity North West said:

“I am delighted to welcome Phil to Electricity North West. He brings a strong commercial acumen with a public service ethos and wealth of experience. He will be a great asset to ENW and we look forward to working closely together.”
