What we do
We're focused on the North West, distributing power to your home on behalf of supply companies who pay us for the use of our electricity network.
We look after one network as one of the six companies that operate the 14 original electricity distribution networks in Great Britain.
- We are licensed by Ofgem to provide a service to supply companies and distribute to 2.4 million homes and businesses.
- You get your electricity bill directly from your supplier, then your supplier pays us around 17 pence from every pound in your bill for the use of our network, allowing us to operate and maintain the local grid.
Network control centre
Experts in our network control centre monitor and control the distribution of your electricity. The centre is alerted to any issues, allowing them to send the correct team to go directly to the fault and minimise disruption.
- We carry out regular inspections to ensure the condition of the network is kept at a high standard.
- We continually invest in the network, building new infrastructure and maintaining it for the future.
Restoration and maintenance teams
Maintenance of the network is carried out by our expert engineers, field teams and contractors, who can also repair electricity cables and other equipment as needed.
If there is a fault with your power supply the restoration team will travel to its location and restore power as quickly as possible.
