Power quality

Our policy on power quality includes:

  • transient variations in voltage and frequency;
  • limits of voltage fluctuations, harmonics and fault level.

The policy is detailed in EPD290 - Power quality strategy and further guidance on application is provided in CP290 - Power quality. Where power quality issues do arise these will be dealt with as detailed in the policy.

Power quality will generally be as specified in BS EN 50160:1999 Voltage characteristics of electricity supplied by public distribution systems.

In addition, the requirements of Energy Networks Association Engineering Recommendation P28 Planning limits for voltage fluctuations caused by industrial, commercial and domestic equipment in the United Kingdom, and ENA ER G5/4 Limits for harmonics in the UK electricity supply system shall be met.
