Public safety near electrical installations

Safety standards are inherent within the design of the electricity distribution system and normally all dangerous parts are well out of reach of members of the public.

Despite this fact people can still find themselves at risk of serious injury from the thousands of kilometres of wires and other equipment that make up the electrical distribution system which delivers power to more than 2.3 million customers.

Sadly, every year in the UK people are injured and some killed after they come into contact with live electricity overhead lines, underground cables or equipment. This is a serious reminder to us all. When we are at work and play we should know what the dangers are and how to avoid them.
